Join an innovative movement that brings remote impoverished communities together around the common cause of developing their own children, teaching them how to leverage and mobilize their local assets rather than creating dependency on foreign aid.
Our mission is to holistically develop impoverished children worldwide, transforming them into followers of Jesus Christ that love people well and are capable of meeting their own needs. We do this by bringing the community together around the common cause of developing their own children, teaching them how to leverage and mobilize their local assets rather than creating dependency on foreign aid.
Situations we’ve seen over and over.
Many poor villages have families just like you and me; they are made up moms and dads who love their children. However, the depth of poverty and oppressive systems have torn through these families leaving behind collateral damage and challenges too big for them to solve on their own. Most of the time, they are so desperate that they cannot see past today because they are simply struggling to survive.
Some organizations, with good intentions, arrive on the scene and provide a program designed to address a particular problem, like education for example. Funding of such a new elaborate program is too big for the village to manage, so the program comes with funding from outside of the village and for that matter, outside of the country. Programs like these can be effective but they are expensive and may take decades before the community is able to pay for it themselves. As a result, they become dependent on donors and never transition to being the ones responsible for providing a proper education for their own children.
We believe there is a better way!
We can do better. To address problems like the one stated above, we are committed to developing impoverished children in new and innovative ways. Our experience and research has revealed four objectives that we have embraced in forming our mission.
- Help as many children as possible by eliminating costly programs
- Reduce the local people’s dependence on foreign financial aid
- Develop sustainable solutions that are owned by local people
- Bring the gospel to community who have never heard or are not open to outsiders
Like most innovations, the best ones are simple ones.
Our approach is to work alongside village leaders that know there is something better but do not know how to make sense of it all. From that starting point, we help communities build a “blueprint” that provides the direction and goals they need to change their behaviors and the fate of their own children.
CDI is DIFFERENT!
We have developed an innovative development framework rather than an out-of-the-box model. It is called the Village Development Framework. This cutting-edge framework is designed to be customized per village yet scalable and repeatable.
It provides the structure, process and tools necessary for communities to develop their own children by leveraging and mobilizing their own local assets. A key success factor is that this approach acknowledges the value of the local people and eliminates dependency on resources from outside of the village.
We start with the end in mind. We teach these folks how to care for their own children from the beginning rather than doing it for them. As a result, relationship and trust is naturally created, leading to the men, women and children living in the village opening their minds and hearts to the gospel message.
Village Development Framework:
School. Challenge and equip village schools to produce educated children rather than “pretending” to teach
Health. Help the local health workers and families know how to live healthy lives through embracing good health behaviors and modern medicine
Church. Assist church planters to build up a local church that serves their community in love and engages in intentional Biblical discipleship
Home. Train parents and caregivers how to best love and care for their own children
